BLENDER MCP

Blender MCP with typed, checked operations.

MifBlender is a Blender add-on that gives an AI assistant 201 typed operations: modeling, materials, UVs, rigging, lights, cameras, animation, Geometry Nodes, physics, particles and rendering. Claude, or any MCP client, calls them through the MCP server that comes with MifBridge.

What is free, and what you buy

You do not need Unreal open

Blender calls go straight from the MCP server to the add-on's socket on your own machine. To keep the assistant's tool list to Blender, start the server with Blender packs only, for example MIF_TOOL_PACKS=blender_core,blender_modeling. The Unreal tools then stay out of the list until you ask for them. Tool packs

Typed operations instead of generated scripts

Many Blender MCP servers let the assistant write Python and run it. MifBlender gives it named operations with checked inputs: a bad value is refused, and the refusal lists the values that would work. Each operation also guards the traps it knows about. A particle system set to render objects, with no object to render, shows nothing and Blender gives no warning, so MifBlender refuses it.

There is still a run_python escape hatch for anything the typed operations do not cover. It is on by default, and you can switch it off with Allow run_python in the add-on preferences. The N-panel shows whether it is allowed.

Checked, and undoable

Which Blender versions

It is tested on Blender 3.6.23, 4.2.17 LTS, 4.4.0, 5.0.1, 5.2.1 LTS: 129 suites on each, none failed (2026-09-29). Its declared minimum is Blender 4.4. Blender's own MCP server needs Blender 5.1 or newer. Engine support

Blender and Unreal in one session

The same MCP server drives the Unreal Editor through MifBridge. An assistant can model something in Blender and send it to Unreal in one call, or bring an Unreal mesh back into Blender. Unreal Engine MCP server

What it has built

The showcase has Blender scenes built and rendered by typed MifBlender calls: liquid and cloth simulations, rigs, Geometry Nodes and a scale model of Manhattan. Each clip says how many calls built it.

Does it generate models?

The typed operations do not. Blender builds the geometry from each call's parameters. One optional path is generative: five operations make a 3D model from text or an image through a ComfyUI install you run yourself. MifBridge ships no models or weights for it, and without ComfyUI those five operations refuse. Where the line is
